My kids LOVE donuts, what kid doesn’t?!? Avoid the trip to the donut shop tomorrow morning and whip up this donut recipe for Cinnamon & Sugar Donuts!
Ever since I bought my Wilton Donut Pan I’ve been whipping up donut recipes left and right. They make for a quick and easy breakfast in the morning and the kids get up out of bed in a timely manner.
There are times at night when I have some free time and in those very rare occurrences I head into the kitchen and whip up donuts for the next morning…that is if the kids are behaving and deserve such a treat 🙂
If you’ve been around MyHeavenlyRecipes.com you may have seen a few other donut recipes such as the Baked Chocolate Donuts or the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Donut Recipe. I was seeing a common problem to my donuts revolved around chocolate so I decided I needed to switch it up a bit!
So on those crazy busy mornings when we literally have 5 minutes to eat breakfast I go toward my 5 second breakfast. A piece of toast with butter and a cinnamon/sugar mixture that I keep on hand and a serving of a fruit salad which in my house consists of strawberries and blueberries!
I’m assuming you are busy and could give two shits less about my crazy busy mornings getting three kids ready to fight face the day so let’s get you what you came here for 😉
Ingredients
Donut
- 1 c flour
- ⅓ c sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ⅛ tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ⅓ c + 1 TBSP milk
- 1 egg
- 1 TBSP oil
Cinnamon/Sugar Mixture
- 3 TBSP Sugar
- 2 TBSP Ground Cinnamon
- 2 TBSP butter, melted
Directions
Preheat oven to 350.
1. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt together.
2. Add in vanilla, milk, egg and oil. Combine until mixed. You don’t want to over mix the batter.
3. Place mixture in a piping bag. If you don’t have a piping bag stick a ziploc bag into a short glass and fold the bag over the glass. Using a large spoon place mixture into the bag. Seal the bag removing the air. Snip the corner of the bag and pipe into your donut pan.
4. Bake your donut for 8-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
5. While your donuts are baking mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the topping and melt the butter.
6. Once your donuts have cooled brush the top of the donuts with melted butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Let set for 5-10 minutes.
Enjoy with a nice tall glass of milk or coffee!
*This yields 6 donuts exactly. If you are serving a team you’ll want to make sure to double or triple the recipe.
