Take it from a Mom of three little kids (7, 3 ½ and 18 months) to tell you what it is Mom Really Wants for Mother’s Day!
I’ll let you in on a secret…. we don’t need expensive jewelry, flowers that we will have to water and die the following week or to be taken to one of those over the top restaurants where we can’t enjoy our children.
If you are in Cincinnati, you’ve got to call Baby Bliss Studio….I <3 this one!
It’s simple really, sleep. Let us Momma’s sleep in. Even if that means that our eyes are open, let us just lay in bed for just 20 minutes with complete and utter silence!
While you are letting us sleep in {or lay in bed reading a book} whip up a nice breakfast. These Homemade Baked Donuts should do or if you need something a bit easier these Southwestern Eggs are always a favorite of mine. If Mom enjoys a nice adult beverage, have a mimosa ready too!
Let Mom relax after breakfast in a nice hot bubble bath, ALONE, on Mother’s Day. While Mom is bathing – gather the kids and CLEAN THE DAMN HOUSE. There’s nothing like a nice sparkly clean house. While Mom is taking Sunday off from cleaning, changing diapers, folding laundry, etc. she doesn’t want to have to clean it all on Monday.
{it’s really what we want for Mother’s Day!
If you can’t manage to clean the entire house, the kitchen will do, {Did you can clean the sink with 1 ingredient!) since that is the room Mom is in the most. If the kids are going to help clean be sure to keep the chemicals at bay. You can whip up your very own Homemade Cleaner & Disinfectant.
As lunch time begins to roll around surprise Mom with this Avocado & Chicken Salad or a Whole Wheat Italian Wrap, let’s keep lunch light! Be sure to slightly toast her bread, that’s how Mom likes it 🙂 and enjoy a nice lunch at the park. While the kids are playing Mom would LOVE to snap a few pictures of the kids playing so you can be sure to chase the little kids!
Next, go home, snuggle up on the couch and put on Netflix. Pop some popcorn and let Mom snugglebug with her kiddos watching a family friendly movie! Hey, if the kids {or Mom} falls asleep that’s a bonus!
Now let’s have an amazing dinner. There’s a few options for this one:
- Steak & Chicken Kabobs – these are perfect if you are having friends and family over for dinner. Put them together the night before and grill. It’s that easy! {I prefer this choice, hint hint!}
- Homemade Lasagna with Homemade Spaghetti Sauce – you’ll astound Mom and she’ll wonder where your cooking skills have been all year!
- Gulden’s Spicy Pan Seared Salmon – If fish is Mom’s thing this will be an over the top dinner that comes together in just minutes.
- Stuffed Peppers – If Mom is a vegetarian skip the hamburger in this recipe and pack it full of veggies!
As Mom enjoys a nice walk after dinner with the kids {she may take her camera again!} prepare your dessert….this one is tricky for me, but, you should know Mom and what dessert she would choose. Here’s a couple suggestions:
- S’More Cookie Bars – these are one of the top recipes on the site and a crowd favorite at my house!
- Chilled Chocolate Chip Cookies – Add a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and create your very own Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie sandwiches.
- Chocolate Covered Strawberries – Need I say more?
- Boston Creme Cake Shooters – If you need a lighter dessert that doesn’t break up the calories Mom has been counting, show her your support with this dessert! Plus, it comes together in just minutes.
- Thin Mint Cookies – Are all the Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies gone? Restock Mom’s supply!
Now that you’ve had a few suggestions thrown out there, what is it that YOU want for Mother’s Day? Feel free to share this post on social media and drop a few hints 😉
