In a small saucepan, heat the Nutella, heavy cream, and chocolate chips over low heat. Stir until the chocolate is melted and the ingredients are smooth.
Add the milk and vanilla. Stir constantly until the mixture begins to steep and tiny bubbles form around the edges of the pan.
Serve the hot chocolate immediately in heat-safe mugs with your favorite toppings.
Notes
*The Nutella, heavy cream, and chocolate chips melt very quickly. It’s not a good idea to start heating them and walk away from the stove. This mixture needs to be stirred constantly to keep the chocolate from sticking and burning.*Pour the milk in slowly as it has a tendency to splash out of the pan (happened to me twice) when it hits the Nutella/chocolate chip mixture.
