Ingredients
5TBSPSugar
5TBSPWater
2TBSPCorn Syrup
1CUnsweetened Cocoa Powder
2TBSPVegetable Oil
2TBSPVegetable Shortening
4TBSPCorn Syruphoney or golden syrup works too
2Sticks of Unsalted Butter
2TSPVanilla Extract
8CPowdered Sugar
4-6TBSPCold Water
Instructions
In a small saucepan combine the first 3 ingredients to make a simple syrup. You will want to boil the ingredients for 2-3 minutes over medium high heat.
Next place the simple syrup into a bowl and allow place in freezer to cool.
Using a Kitchen Aid mixer with the paddle attachment add the cocoa powder and cooled but still warm simple syrup and mix until it forms a firm mass. It will be thick and odd, but, it's ok!
Next add the Vegetable Oil and Solid Vegetable Shortening ensure to combine all the ingredients. You may need to use a spatula and scrape down the sides of your bowl.
Add the corn syrup and the softened butter mixing until smooth.
Place sifted confectioners sugar all at once and mix on low until smooth.
Slowly add the cold water 1 tablespoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
* You can use a hand mixer, be sure to add small amounts of powdered sugar at a time.
