Instructions
Preheat oven to 450°.
In a large bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Cut in shortening with a fork or pastry cutter until you have pea size pieces of butter.
Slowly stir in milk until incorporated.
On a floured surface toss the dough together until sticky. You aren't really needing it, just bringing it together.
Punch dough down until it's ½" thick evenly to make biscuits.
Using a round biscuit or cookie cutter, cut out biscuits.
Repeat the process until your biscuits have been made. I got 8 biscuits out of my dough using a 3" biscuit cutter.
Using a pastry or basting brush, top each biscuit with butter. This helps the tops to turn a golden brown.
Place biscuits on baking sheet and place in the oven for 8-10 minutes until biscuits are a light golden brown.
Remove from oven and brush the tops again with butter.
Serve and enjoy with butter, honey, biscuits and gravy and more!
