1cupshredded Cheddar cheeseColby Jack is my puppy’s favorite as well
1medium appleabout ¾ cup, shredded apple. I did not peel my apple as I know my puppy can eat it. but you can peel the apple if you want.
1egg
⅓cupwater
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
Line a parchment paper with a silicone mat. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, cheese, and shredded apple.
Add the egg and the water. Mix to form a dough. (For this step, I mix with a Danish Dough Hook. You can use a stand-up mixer. I wouldn’t recommend using a hand mixer as the dough is thick and sticky.)
Once the dough is all mixed, place it on a working surface. I used my baking silicone mat/OXO baking mat.
If you still see some dry flour, knead 2 to 3 times.
Before rolling, add about 1-2 tablespoons of flour to the mat and on the rolling pin. You may need to add more so the rolling pin doesn’t stick.
Roll the dough to ¼ inch thick (I used a Joseph Joseph rolling pin)
Use a cookie cutter and cut the dough into pieces.
Place on the cookie sheet.
Bake in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until the cookies are nice and golden. Flip them after the first 15 minutes.
Cool completely on a cooling rack.
Notes
Storage: Keep some of the treats in a ziplock bag on the counter for 4 to 5 days. In the fridge for up to a month in an airtight container. They freeze really well, actually, my puppy prefers them frozen for a cold treat on hot summer days.
