*Reserve some extra chocolate chips & M&Ms to press into the top of the cookie bars.
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees fahrenheit. Line a 9x13 inch pan with parchment paper or foil, and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth.
Add brown sugar and granulated sugar, and cream those together for 1-2 minutes.
Add eggs and vanilla, and mix until combined.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, and mix until just combined, with some flour spots left. *The dough will finish coming together when we fold in the M&Ms and chocolate chips.
Add the chocolate chips and M&Ms, and fold the dough until everything is combined and your cookie dough has formed.
Press the cookie dough mixture into the bottom of your pan, in an even layer.
Press a few extra M&Ms and chocolate chips into the top of the bars.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, until the bars are beginning to turn golden brown on top.
Allow the bars to cool completely, and cut into squares.
Notes
**For thinner bars, use a larger pan, such as a half baking sheet or jelly roll pan.
