Beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
Fold in the cool whip until well combined.
Heat the brown sugar and butter on medium to low heat on the stove, stirring constantly until the butter has completely melted and the mixture starts to thicken, about 5-8 minutes.
Then add the pecans and continue stirring until the mixture thickens, then remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
Scrape the cream cheese mixture into your serving dish, then pour the pecan mixture on top.
Let the pecan mixture set on top of the cream cheese mixture for about 10 minutes in the fridge, or until the pecan mixture starts to harden.
