Homemade Almond Milk Recipe
Almond milk is spendy these days, buy raw almonds in bulk and make your own at home! It’s actually quite simple to make and you can adjust the sweetness! This doesn’t taste the exact same as the store bought almond milks, this really tastes like almonds!
What ingredients do I need to make almond milk?
- Raw almonds
- Cold filtered water
- Natural maple syrup
- Vanilla extract
- Optional: Pinch of sea salt
What can I use to sweeten my almond milk?
- Maple Syrup
- Agave Nectar
- 1 Date
- Honey
I forgot to soak almonds overnight- now what?
Soak them in hot water for 3-4 hours and it should work!
Homemade Almond Milk
Ingredients
- 1 cup of raw almonds
- 3 ½ cups of cold filtered water
- 1 – 2 tablespoons of natural maple syrup depending on how sweet you want it
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Optional: Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Place your almonds in water overnight for 18 – 24 hours.
- Continue to drain the soaked almonds and rinse them well. (Discard that water)
- Then place your almonds in your blender, together with your fresh water, maple syrup and vanilla. Blend until creamy for about 2 -3 minutes.
- Strain your almond milk using a nut bag strainer or an ultra fine mesh strainer into an airtight container. Squeeze well to extract the extra liquid.
- Store the almond milk in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Notes
– You can also strain your milk into a measuring bowl so its easier to pour into your carafe to avoid making a mess.
– You can also add a pinch of salt to heighten the almond flavor.
