How to Make Chocolate Sauce That Hardens on Ice Cream

- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a month. If it starts to solidify, place the container in a bowl of hot water to slowly reheat it and stir to combine.
NOTES:
This can also be made in the microwave in a pinch. Just combine all of the ingredients in a microwave safe container and heat in 15-20 second bursts, pausing to stir each time until smooth. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving over ice cream.
Magic Shell
Ingredients
- 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chopped
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Fill a saucepan or the bottom of a double broiler about halfway with water and bring to a simmer.
- Add ingredients to a heat proof bowl (or the top of a double broiler) placed on top of the saucepan.
- Cook for about 5-10 minutes, stirring constantly, until the ingredients have melted and combined.
- Allow to cool for about 15 minutes before spooning over your ice cream.
