- ¼ cup grenadine
Orange Layer

- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup pulp-free orange juice chilled

Instructions
- Arrange 30 (2-ounce) shot glasses on a lined tray.
- Make the cherry layer. Combine the cherry jello and hot water in a medium measuring cup or spouted bowl and stir until the jello has completely dissolved.
- Stir in the cold water, tequila, and grenadine.
- Fill each shot glass ⅓ full with cherry jello.
- Refrigerate for at least two hours or until the jello has set.
- Once the cherry layer has set, make the orange layer. Combine the orange jello and hot water in a large measuring cup or spouted bowl and stir until the jello has completely dissolved.
- Stir in the orange juice and tequila. Set aside to allow the mixture to cool to room temperature for 5-10 minutes.
- Carefully pour the orange jello over the cherry layer to fill the shot glass.
- Return to the refrigerator for at least two hours or until set.
- Serve chilled, garnished with a maraschino cherry and orange wedge if desired.
Notes
The jello shots can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, although they are best enjoyed within a week of being made.
● I do not recommend freezing the jello shots as jello tends to get grainy once frozen.
● Wait until you are ready to serve before adding the garnish. The cherries and oranges contain juice that will weep onto the jello shots and cause the tops to become melted.
● I like using a reposado (silver) tequila in these shots. However, you can use your favorite tequila.

- 2-ounce condiment cups work perfectly for these jello shots. They typically come with plastic lids, which makes storing and transporting the shots very easy. Condiment cups can typically be found at your local grocery or dollar stores.
- Place your bottle of tequila in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or the freezer for 15 minutes before making the shots. Adding chilled tequila to the jello mixture will help it cool down and set faster.
- Be sure you allow the orange jello mixture to cool to room temperature before pouring it over the cherry layer. If it is even slightly warm, it will melt the cherry layer and cause the two colors to bleed together.
- These jello shots can be made alcohol-free by replacing the tequila in each layer with cold water.
- You can substitute the grenadine in the cherry layer with ¼ cup of maraschino cherry liquid.
- Ensure you have enough space in the refrigerator for the tray you are planning to use to transport the shots. Thirty shots can take up a lot of space. I like to use two quarter sheet pans stacked on each other. Each quarter sheet pan will hold 15 shots.
