Have you ever wanted to make Chicken and Dumplings in the Crock Pot? Well, now you can with this comfort food recipe!
I am having so much fun with my new sign that I found at Hobby Lobby! I originally bought it for my show at the Duke Energy Convention Center a few months ago and just haven’t been able to find a spot for it in my house….so I figured I could use it for a food picture or two!
Seriously, how long could you spend in Hobby Lobby? This post has NOTHING to do with them, I’m not getting paid by the company…I just have a obsession love with the store! We actually got a lot of the decorations for the basement as well…if that project ever gets done..
I seriously can’t believe how easy this Chicken and Dumplings in the Crock Pot was to make. Now I could’ve saved some time by chopping all the veggies for this recipe and putting them in a storage bag in the freezer and dumped them in when I was ready to make this recipe, but, for video purposes I didn’t!
In my original Chicken and Dumplings recipe I hand make the dumplings and it puts it over the top! But, with the Crock Pot recipe we often need quick and easy, right? You can go ahead and buy biscuits and just peel and dump into the Crock Pot. This is a fun things for kids to do, but, my kids happened to be at Gymnastics {had to leave early Beanies wasn’t feeling good 🙁 } that night and I wanted dinner to be done for when they got home as we still needed to read, take showers and chill out before it was bed time.

Chicken and Dumplings in the Crock Pot
Ingredients
- DUMPLINGS
- 3 cups cake flour
- ¾ tsp. baking soda
- ¾ tsp. salt
- 4½ tbsp. shortening
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
- In the crockpot place celery, onions, carrots on the bottom of the crock pot.
- Next add in chicken breasts and season with salt and pepper.
- Pour in water to cover veggies and allow to cook on high for 3 hours.
- Next add in chicken stock, stir.
- 10-15 minutes prior to serving peel biscuits into bite size pieces and add in. I added 4 biscuits. You can do more or less depending on the amount of dumplings you enjoy.
- Allow biscuits to fluff up and serve.
- If making homemade Dumplings: About a half hour before serving make your dumplings in a bowl. Sprinkle your work surface and rolling pin with cake flour. Roll the dough out until it’s about ½” think. Using a pizza cutter (or sharp knife) cut 2″ diamond shapes (just got diagonally). Add the dumplings into the pot and let cook for 10-15 minutes.
