So two years ago we purchased my Husband’s childhood home. We sold our house unexpectedly, was living in a condo for 6 months and one day his Mother said she was ready to move. We both didn’t believe it for two days until she kept calling saying she was ready to go sign papers at her new apartment. We still have no clue why she decided to do this as it seemed overnight…but, we were happy to purchase the home from her to give her a cushion and enjoy her retirement.

I think Jason, my Hubby, and I have both had a hard time with the change. We see what the home use to be and can’t get past that fact. So I have slowly started to change the house to my sense of style and started with these old windows. I love the character of them, the old paint flaking off, the brass hardware that’s been oxidized and I love love love the fact that the window has panes. It’s probably my favorite part.

Immediately when I seen them for sale for $15 I knew I had to have them. While I didn’t have the room to hang them vertically like they had been their whole life I decided to hang them side by side. I’ve changed them with seasons and throughout the past two years, but, the overall useage of the windows have remained the same and that’s to use as a display.

I display the children’s artwork, funny pictures, holiday images, certain crafts and have at times added a wreath in between the two to celebrate the holidays or birthdays.

So the next time you see a window for sale, please don’t pass it by. Think of the story it could tell, how it will add a bit of character to your home and most importantly the artwork and images that you could feature!
