With the busy schedule that my family maintains, we like to have Italian Whole Wheat Wraps for dinner sometimes too as they are super easy to prepare in advance. If you too are constantly running, these are a good dinner option to put into rotation at your house. They taste great hot or cold so you can prepare these early in the day and leave them in the fridge to grab when you get back from all of your many activities.

Whole Wheat Wraps are also really great for packing on the go!  Do you do brown bag lunches?  If you are tired of making the same old PB&J or Ham & Cheese sandwiches, try these out!  Pack them with some cottage cheese, or some sliced fruit and oh my goodness, lunchtime will be exciting again!

WHY IT WORKS

  • Can be served at lunch or dinner.
  • Sometimes you just need a meal that doesn’t require a plate.  This is that meal.
  • Tastes great hot or cold, so you can prepare them in advance for busy days.

RECIPE VARIATIONS

  • Add any ingredient you wish to pair with these Italian ingredients.
  • Skip the tomatoes if you aren’t a tomato fan.
  • Cook them in advance and keep in the fridge throughout the day, these do taste great cold as well.
  • Enjoy red onion? Throw it on too!

COOK’S TIPS

  • Be sure to pull the wrap off of the pan as soon as the tortilla is lightly browned to avoid overcooking.
  • Fill your tortilla generously, but keep in mind that you still need to be able to fold it closed to eat!

On half of the tortilla layer your ingredients starting with half of a piece of cheese, turkey, ham and salami.

Next add on your lettuce, banana peppers and cherry tomatoes if you are including them.

Drizzle with olive oil or Italian Dressing. I personally use Garlic Expressions…it’s delish!

On the other half of your tortilla place your other half of cheese and flip over on top of the ingredients.

Using a spatula or large spoon press the top of the tortilla firmly so that the cheese on top melts into the meats and it “seals” it.

Remove from skillet once the tortilla is lightly toasted.
