Pig Shots Recipe
How to Make Pig Shot Appetizers
Here’s a crowd pleasing appetizer…pig shots! You can’t go wrong with bacon and sausage, right? Make sure to also try our bacon wrapped smokies and our other favorite appetizers!
To make these mouthwatering pig shots, you’ll need a variety of savory ingredients. Start with some smoked Kielbasa and thick-cut bacon, which will add a meaty, smoky flavor. Next, gather a trio of creamy ingredients: cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and ranch dressing. These will add richness and tanginess to the dish. Finally, pick up some fresh chives, garlic powder, brown sugar, and pepper to add a burst of fresh flavor and a touch of sweetness.
Ok, lets get started! First, slice that delicious kielbasa into 22 equal pieces – think of them as the “glasses” for your shots! Next, lay out the bacon and give it a sweet and savory sprinkle of brown sugar and freshly cracked peppercorn. Cut each piece of bacon in half, then wrap each kielbasa “glass” with a slice of bacon to create the ultimate “shot glass” – secure it with a toothpick, of course!
Now it’s time to mix up the creamy filling! In a small bowl, combine softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, ranch dressing, fresh chives, and garlic powder. Fill each bacon-wrapped “shot glass” with the creamy mixture, and get ready for a flavor explosion! Preheat your air fryer to 340 degrees (or your oven to 400 degrees, if you prefer). Place the pig shots in the air fryer, leaving a little space between each one. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and golden. Serve those pig shots warm, and get ready to enjoy the ooohs and ahhhs from your friends and family!
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can still enjoy these delicious pig shots by baking them in the oven. Simply place the pig shots on a baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each one. Then, bake them in a preheated oven at 400 degrees F for 20-30 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy.
Alternatively, you can also make these pig shots on a smoker for a rich, smoky flavor. To do this, set up your smoker to 350 degrees and smoke the pig shots for 45 minutes to an hour, or until they’re nice and crispy. Once they’re done, let them cool before removing the toothpicks. For those following a keto diet, you’ll be happy to know that these pig shots are almost keto-friendly as is. To make them fully compliant, simply omit the brown sugar, and you’re good to go!
