There’s nothing better than Homemade Lasagna…ok maybe we can think of a few 😉 but, my Homemade Lasagna Recipe utilizing with fresh ingredients is one of my favorite heavenly meals that I create for my family.

Homemade Lasagna RecipePin

I seriously want to go into the kitchen right now and whip up this Homemade Lasagna recipe. My mouth is watering and I can literally taste it right now!

My husband is obsessed with Italian food. It wasn’t until I truly began to cook that I found his joy for Italian foods. I should’ve expected it considering he’s 50% Italian. At first I would buy those pre-made lasagna pans and heat it up in the oven, serve with a salad and some of that frozen garlic bread. As my taste buds matured I honestly can’t stand that frozen lasagna stuff….so I make my own!

It starts off with my Homemade Spaghetti Sauce, layered with Ricotta cheese, fresh spinach, garlic and basil. I’m even considering cooking this in bulk and canning it, but, I’ve got to do a bit more investigating before I start canning! {If you have any tips or tricks I’d love to hear them!}

Ingredients

  • Homemade Spaghetti Sauce
  • Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 C Spinach, chopped
  • 2 gloves garlic, minced
  • 2 TBSP Basil, chopped
  • 12-14 Lasagna Noodles, cooked according to box
  • 2 C Tomato Sauce
  • Mozzarella Cheese, fresh or shredded

*Yields: 8 Adult Size Servings (could get more pieces if cut smaller)

1. Place 1 C tomato sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 pan you’ll be making the lasagna in. This makes sure the noodles don’t stick.

2. Place 3-4 lasagna noodles on the bottom for your first layer making sure they overlap a bit.

3. Spoon and spread ricotta cheese.

4. Place 3-4 lasagna noodles ensuring they continue to overlap.

5. Laddle Spaghetti Sauce onto the top of the lasagna noodles. Make sure to coat all of the noodles.

6. Top spaghetti sauce with half of the mozzarella cheese, spinach, basil and garlic. You want the cheese to hold the noodles.

7. Layer with remaining 3-4 lasagna noodles, again making sure they overlap.

8. Laddie the remaining spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese. Be sure that the noodles are completely covered in the spaghetti sauce. If not, add in the remaining cup of tomato sauce. If the noodles aren’t all coated they will dry out in the oven.

9. Cook in the oven, covered with aluminum foil on 350 for 20-25 minutes. Pull off the aluminum foil and let cook for another 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

Serve with Garlic Bread and a salad for a complete meal.

  1. Hi Diane – that was my fault..apparently I didn’t add the cooking part for some reason?!? I’ve updated it to reflect, but, place in the oven, covered with aluminum foil on 350 for 20-25 minutes. Pull off the aluminum foil and let cook for another 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
