Activities Inside the Kitchen for Children By Age
There are activities inside the kitchen for kids of all ages to participate in, from toddlers on up.
If you follow me on the My Heavenly Recipes Facebook page you’ll know that my (almost) 8 year old daughter will be contributing her very own recipes to the website! In addition, my Husband, Jason, will also be adding his recipes – mostly involving the good ‘ole Crock-Pot .
It was brought up with a friend of mine several months ago at how to get her children involved in activities inside the kitchen. My response is simple — it’s all dependent on each child.
Age Appropriate Activities Inside the Kitchen
Activities for Toddlers
If your younger tot has an attention span and enjoys being in the kitchen s/he may be able to stay around to make an entire recipe! Allow them to:
- add the ingredients in
- help to mix
- rinse off the spoons
- set the table, etc.
Now if your child has a shorter attention span and s/he comes and goes, you may start with:
- turning on the mixer
- placing napkins on the table
- cleaning up their plate or
- putting trash in the garbage or recycling bin.
However, I wanted to create a Kitchen Tasks for Children by Age Printable for you to use as a reference guide.
With all three of my children and my oldest being 8 these are the kind of activities in the kitchen that work well with all 3 of my children.
NOTE: If your child is a bit mature for his/her age, you may consider stepping up to the next age bracket.
