Chocolate Frosted Baked Donut Recipe
Since my recovery from foot surgery is taking longer than expected, I try to make it up to the kids in other ways. Like surprising them with special treats when I can. One night, Jas took the kids downstairs to play. They can do whatever down there, from kick balls to sewing, and I can’t go down right now so it’s fun for them! I took about 20 minutes and whipped up this chocolate frosted baked donut recipe.
When they came upstairs, they were scrounging the kitchen for the chocolate cake they thought I had made. They literally jumped up and down when they saw these donuts resting!
Now keep this tip in your back pocket Mommas…
If your children are hard to wake in the morning, make this chocolate frosted baked donut recipe. These donuts might do the trick. 😉
They knew they had to wait until morning to enjoy the chocolatey goodness and they were super easy to wake the next morning.

- 12 oz. bag of Nestle Semi-Sweet Morsels
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 and spray your donut pan with a baking spray.
- In a large bowl mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Whisk together, set aside.
- In a medium bowl combine the eggs, milk, sour cream, vanilla extract and oil. Combine.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until mixed together. Stir in morsels.
- Using a gallon size bag spoon in the donut mixture. Using a pair of scissors snip the bottom corner on one side and pipe into your donut pan. I go around the donut pan 2-3 times to ensure a nice thick round donut.

- Remove the donuts from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Place the donuts on a wire rack to cool completely.
- To glaze your donuts place the top half of your donut into the glaze or spoon the mixture on. Place bottom side down on the wire rack to let the glaze drip onto the donut.
- Pour a nice cold glass of milk and enjoy!
