Can I interest anyone in some yummy Christmas Wreath Cookies?  Yes, I know we’ve been talking a lot about the holidays, but that’s because they are right around the corner!  Not only are the fun to make and eat, but these Christmas Wreath Cookies make a fun holiday gift too!

Have you ever made Christmas Wreath Cookies? I know that it’s easy to find Christmas themed cookie cutters out there, so there is no shortage of Christmas cookies to be made, but these Christmas Wreath Cookies might just be my favorite!

If you like to keep cookies on hand for snacking on, these Christmas Wreath Cookies are the best this time of year! I think they look great in a clear cookie jar on the table.  Forget the expensive holiday centerpiece, you can let the cookies be your holiday decor!

I always prefer homemade Christmas Wreath Cookies over store bought, don’t you?  Sure store bought cookies are great if you are running low on time, but let’s be real here.  Nothing beats homemade cookies, especially during the holidays.

RECIPE VARIATIONS:
  • Choose multi-colored candies or stick to just holiday colors.
  • Double up your recipe for parties, dinners, or for when you want to give them as gifts.
COOK’S TIPS:
  • Use your favorite sugar cookie recipe (might I suggest this one?)
  • Be sure to cool cookies completely before decorating them.
  • Use your favorite frosting bag with Wilton tip #32
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE CHRISTMAS WREATH COOKIES:

sugar cookie dough, butter, food coloring, candiesPin

  • Use your favorite recipe for sugar cookies (enough to make 12) – I use this one SOFT FLUFFY SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 4-5 tbsp milk
  • ¼ tsp Kelly green gel food coloring
  • Multicolored candies


HOW TO MAKE CHRISTMAS WREATH COOKIES

PinYields: One dozen decorated cookies
PinOnce you prepare your cookie dough, roll it on a floured surface so that it’s about ¼ of an inch thick. With a cookie cutter, cut out a wreath shape – we had a cookie cutter that also cut out a circle on the inside. If you don’t have one, you’ll use two different-sized circular cookie cutters to achieve the look.

Bake and allow to cool completely.
PinWith an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar and milk on medium speed. Gradually increase to high. Once the ingredients start mixing, add food coloring. Mix until buttercream is smooth and forms semi-stiff peaks.

Using a frosting bag and Wilton tip #32, frost each cookie then add multicolored candies (they will act as the Christmas lights for your wreath!). Enjoy!
