So, I’m not that into golf, but I am into making themed desserts that are as fun to make as they are to eat! Today I am sharing a ridiculously cute and easy-to-make Rice Krispies Golf Treats recipe. I mean, who doesn’t love Rice Krispies Treats?
Nothing could be easier than making up a batch of Rice Krispies Treats (does anyone else remember those hilarious commercials?) until Kellogg’s actually decided to make them for us and sell them in stores. (Thank you!) Now I do like to make my own sometimes, but other times I like to grab some plain, store-bought Rice Krispies Treats and use them as a blank canvas. In today’s recipe for Rice Krispies Golf Treats, that is exactly what I’ve done to keep things simple, but if you want to use your favorite Rice Krispies Treats recipe as the base, you do you.
Why you’ll love Rice Krispies Golf Treats
- It’s a no-bake dessert!
- This recipe uses store-bought Rice Krispies Treats to save you even more time.
- Kids love to help decorate these treats. My kids were seriously into making the tiny golf balls!
- These treats are portable, crowdpleasers.
- And, well, because they’re adorable and fun to eat. Duh.
When to serve Rice Krispies Golf Treats
- Potlucks, BBQs, and picnics
- Golf-themed parties (Do a quick Pinterest or Google search to check out the amazing and fun ideas for both kids and adults online. SO FUN!)
- Father’s Day gift or dessert
- When someone you care about is watching golf on TV and you want to be supportive of their “hobby” but you just can’t sit there and watch grass grow. (Definitely make these then because they will think you are doing it for them – bonus!)
Tip: Because these Rice Krispies Golf Treats are topped with buttercream frosting, you can store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. If for some crazy reason you haven’t eaten them all by then you can put them in the fridge for longer.
Ingredients You’ll Need for Rice Krispies Golf Treats
These fun Rice Krispies Golf Treats require only a few ingredients!
Ingredients:
- 6 ready-made rice cereal treats
- ½ stick butter, softened
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1-2 tbsp milk
- Green gel food coloring
- 1 tbsp Oreo crumbs
- 4 oz. white cake fondant
Yields: 6 cereal treats
How to Make Rice Krispies Golf Treats
Step #1: In a stand mixer, combine butter, confectioners’ sugar, and milk. Mix on high until your buttercream forms stiff peaks.
TIP: You may have to add sugar to stiffen it up. In order to loosen it and make it creamier, add more milk ½ tbsp. at a time.
Step #2: With the Wilton Decorating Tip #233, frost each cereal treat with your green butter cream.
Step #3: Knead your white fondant so that it’s easy to work with. Roll out 6 small spheres about ⅓ of an inch in diameter.
Step #4: Sprinkle the Oreo crumbs so that it forms a neat, small circle on one portion of the cereal treat. Using the end of a wooden BBQ skewer, lightly poke the entire surface of each fondant sphere so that it resembles a golf ball. Place on the frosted cereal treat.
Aren’t they the cutest?!
