Variations to Coffee Cake
When making coffee cake, there are not too many variations to it. You can however add:
- Cream Cheese Icing
- Raisins
- Nuts
Ingredients for Semi-Homemade Cinnamon Coffee Cake
- Yellow or White Cake Mix plus the ingredients on the box
- unsalted butter
- cinnamon
- flour
- brown sugar
- The Crumb Topping
- sugar
- vanilla extract
How to Make Semi-Homemade Cinnamon Coffee Cake
Make your cake mix according to directions.
In a separate bowl combine your cinnamon filling layer ingredients and mix until incorporated.
In a 9×13 baking dish, make sure it’s thoroughly greased with butter or non-stick baking spray.
Add in half of your cake mix, spread evenly.
Place the cinnamon filling layer on top in an even layer.
Pour remaining cake mix over the top of the cinnamon layer. Using a spoon, carefully spread evenly.
Place in oven and bake according to directions on the box. I baked mine for 23 minutes.
While the cake is baking, make your crumb topping by placing all your ingredients into a bowl.
I like to mix all the ingredients with a spoon and then bring in a fork or my hands to break up the butter!
Once the cake is done baking, place crumb topping on in an even layer and place bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
Slice with a sharp knife to get a nice even cut.

Ingredients
Cake
- Yellow or White Cake Mix made according to directions on box

- 6 tbsp unsalted butter softened
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 c flour
- 1 c brown sugar
The Crumb Topping
- 2 c flour
- 2 sticks unsalted butter
- ⅔ c sugar
- 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp cinnamon
Instructions
