Sugar Cookie Rice Krispie Treats
Christmas Rice Krispie Treats

These Sugar Cookie Rice Krispies Treats are a fun, festive twist on the classic! Made with
melted marshmallows, butter, and heat-treated sugar cookie mix, they’re soft, chewy, and
packed with that buttery sugar cookie flavor. Topped with colorful holiday sprinkles, they’re the
perfect easy no-bake treat for parties, cookie swaps, or anytime you’re craving something sweet
and nostalgic.

I know you might be wondering if you can just add the sugar cookie mix without heat-treating it, but it’s really not a good idea. Raw flour can have bacteria that you don’t want anyone eating, so it’s safest to heat-treat the mix first. It only takes a few minutes, and it’s worth it for peace of mind.
To heat-treat it, just pop the mix into a microwave-safe bowl and warm it up in 30-second bursts, stirring in between, until it hits 160°F. If you’d rather use the oven, spread a thin layer on a baking sheet and bake it at 300°F for about 10 minutes, or until it reaches that same temperature. Easy and safe!

Now, about that sugar cookie mix—yes, it’s pretty much the magic ingredient that made these Rice Krispies so popular. It adds the perfect touch of sweetness and flavor. If you’re out of mix, though, don’t worry! You can crush up actual sugar cookies and use those instead.
If you want to make these ahead of time, go right ahead. They’ll stay nice and fresh for about three days at room temperature, as long as you keep them in an airtight container.
And of course, you can always have fun with mix-ins! White chocolate chips, crushed sugar cookies, even crushed peppermint candy if you’re feeling festive—it’s all delicious.

Oh, and one last little tip: if the mixture keeps sticking to your hands or spatula, just give them a light spritz of cooking spray. It makes it so much easier to press everything into the pan neatly without getting goo everywhere.
