I finally decided to take the leap and do another chalk paint fireplace makeover! If you saw the first Fireplace Makeover, you MUST see the NEW and improved fireplace!

Fireplace Makeover

When I was all dopped up on pain meds from my foot surgery last year I decided I was going to paint the fireplace. It was something that I didn’t give much thought to and did it because I couldn’t do much at the time. When Jas came home and seen what I had done I think he was in shock really. He mentioned on several occasions that a few of the bricks needed to be painted a different color. I didn’t agree.

As I looked at the fireplace it was just missing something. I wasn’t sure what it was. The fireplace insert was a HUGE eye sore and the fact that there is no mantel nearly angers me. But, the house has recycled brick and to be honest with you I’m prettified that I am going to drill a hole in the brick and it all fall apart. This brick is SUPER brittle and I don’t have the funds to tear it all out at this point. I’d love to have the huge stone on the entire house and cover up the ugly brick. That’s in the future plans, but, just not in the budget right now.

The work never stops on this house! #DIY @decoart chalky finish for the win! #myheavenlyrecipes #comingsoon

My friend, Becky {shout out to ya Beck!}, bought a new home and painted her fireplace with several different colors. When I saw it I fell in love with it! I kept thinking to myself that that’s what the fireplace was missing and Jason was right…it pains me to say that! One Sunday afternoon when we had nothing going on I just went for it. I grabbed a few of the colors of Americana Decor Chalky Finish that I had used on previous projects. I felt like the colors I used was a good mix of the colors that we have all throughout the house.

Dining Room Table Makeover Top

Last year I completed my Farehouse Inspired Dining Room Table Makeover. I used the colors Primitive and Everlasting on this project.

Then for the Curio Cabinet Makeover and the Dining Room Hutch Makeover I used the color Relic.

I grabbed those paints and 3 paint brushes and went to town! I took my time and started with the lighter colors first and filled in the Relic colored bricks last. I figured if it was easier to cover up a light color with the dark color incase I messed something up. Now I will tell you that I was afraid my OCD wasn’t going to do well with this project. At first it didn’t. Then I had to keep telling myself that it would be ok and there’s no right or wrong way to do this. Once I realized I was getting into a pattern I had to break it up. Then I called Jas in to help me fill the top of the bricks in and all was well!

Chalk Paint Fireplace Makeover Final

Now that the fireplace has been painted for a few months I seriously love it. We plan on getting a gas insert and getting away with the wood burning fireplace. When we do that I hope to add a mantle! So I’ll update ya when that happens! {yes, that is my “blanky”. I love it!}

Chalk Paint Fireplace Makeover

I will have to say that the pictures just don’t do it justice. Since I’m FAR from a professional photographer I’m just having a hard time showing you the true beauty that this fireplace is.
