Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 8 cups mini marshmallows
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 8 cups rice krispie cereal
- 1 ¼ cups 1 cup + ¼ cup red and green M&M’s, divided
- 3 tablespoons 2 tablespoons + 1 tablespoons Christmas nonpareils, divided
- 3 tablespoons 2 tablespoons + 1 tablespoon Christmas sprinkles, divided
Instructions
- Prepare a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Melt 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter and ½ teaspoon kosher salt using a large pot or Dutch oven over low-medium heat. Once melted, add 8 cups of mini marshmallows and continue to stir until melted. Then add ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract and stir until combined. Don’t allow the mixture to burn in the bottom of the pot.
- Once melted, remove from heat and slowly fold 8 cups of rice krispie cereal into the mixture. Once coated, add the remaining cereal and gently fold until all the cereal is coated. Fold gently so as not to crush the cereal.
- Fold in 1 cup of red and green M&M’s, 2 tablespoons of Christmas nonpareils, and 2 tablespoons of red and green sprinkles.
- Spread the rice krispie mixture into a parchment paper-lined 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Gently press the mixture evenly into the pan. Be careful not to smash or heavily press, as this will cause your treats to be chewy and tough.
- Top with ¼ cup red and green M&M’s, 1 tablespoon of Christmas nonpareils, and 1 tablespoon of Christmas sprinkles. Allow 30 – 45 minutes for the treats to rest before serving.
- Cut into 15 equals treats. Serve and ENJOY!
