Some of my favorite recipes come from friends and family. This Steak & Chicken Kabob Recipe is one of those recipes! I know you will fall in love with this recipe too!
The Secret To An Amazing Shish Kabob Recipe
In my making this Steak & Chicken Shish Kabob recipe dozens of times there are two tricks for amazing results.
- The first is to use fresh meat. Frozen meat will do, but, it’s just not the same as using fresh.
- The second trick is to marinate the meat overnight in Ziploc bags. Typically I would put the kabobs together, place in a baking dish and then pour the dale sauce on. But the dale sauce has salt which helps to break down the meat. It really does soften the meat up and makes it DELICIOUS!
- Next, make sure that your grill is super hot and clean for the best results!
*UPDATE: A few of you have emailed saying you can’t find Dale Sauce in your local grocery. You can order the Dale Sauce on Amazon…it’s a MUST! It breaks down the fat which makes the meat super tender. (I make a few cents off the sale which helps keep the site running smoothly. So if you purchase Thank You!)

This recipe really makes me long for nice weather so we can fire up the grill. I love that you used both steak and chicken, so everyone’s taste is covered. Thanks for linking it up at Talented Tuesday!

Thank ya girl! I had to do both meats, my 3 year old refuses Steak, however, her older sister LOVES it. When I am feeding a crowd I will serve all chicken, ya know cause it’s budget friendly. Enjoy!

Could you please tell me what Dale Sauce is?
Kristi says
I to am from Cincinnati
Marci says
Hi Kristi! Dale Sauce is found in the aisle with the condiments (mustard, ketchup, salad dressing). At my Kroger it’s right by the Hot Sauce. I opt for the Low Sodium version. I hope this helps.
Marci says
You can find it in your groceries condiment aisle!
Marci says
Aww YAY! I hope you’ll stop by every week for 2 new recipes!

Omg I had forgotten all about Dale’s sauce..used to use it all the time..and we love it!! Another good marinade for kabobs is A1 steak sauce and italian dressing..mix that together..add veggies and meat..let soak for an hr or so..Then make the kabobs..grill and enjoy. They are fantastic!!!
Marci says
Yes I’ve done that in years past. I stopped marinating them that was because we never used A1 sauce but for that…I think the Dale sauce is the way to go 🙂
pax says
When you say Steak, what kind do you use?
Marci says
Hi Pax! I typically buy whatever is one sale. Whether it be flank, stir fry, sirloin, etc. I buy a lot of meat from the markdown sections at my local stores and make within a day or two.
Brian Jones says
We do enjoy a good kabob in our house and I love the idea of the vegetarian version (we have quite a few veggie friends), but would probably make my own BBQ marinate!
Marci says
The trick is the Dale Sauce Brian…I’m telling you! I’ve made many marinades and this one breaks the meat down so nice!

Hi Maci! The pictures of the kabobs made me drool. I recently purchased a small grill for inside my house so I don’t have to wait until summer to try these. Do you have a favorite dipping sauce you could share to compliment these?
Marci says
Hey Atlas! You can drizzle a little extra of the Dale Sauce —- We just grilled last night in 10 degree weather! So I can’t say we don’t have these during the winter 😉 Let me know how you like this Steak & Chicken Kabobs recipe. It’s one of my all time favs!
