How to Make Potato Skins in the Air Fryer
Make these delicious air fryer potato skins for an awesome appetizer or a side dish to your meal! They are fantastic with a juicy steak to pair with it! I like to make these for football games like the super bowl, people love to dip them in sour cream! Make sure to try our oven baked potato skins and air fryer baked potatoes too!
- What will I need to make this recipe?
- You will need the following ingredients:
- 6 baked potatoes
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 cup of cheddar
- 1 cup of Colby jack cheese
- ½ cup of bacon bits ( I used store-bought )
- ½ cup of chopped green onions
- ½ cup of sour cream

- Air fryer

- How do I store potato skins?
- Don’t put sour cream on the potatoes and you can store them in an air tight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. To heat them up just place them into the air fryer for 3-4 min and then top them with sour cream and spring onions.
- What are some substitutions I can make?
- You swap out the cheese for a cheese you prefer. White cheddar and Monterrey jack works well.
- Can I make this ahead of time and freeze it?
- Yes, once you don’t put any toppings on. Let the potato skins cool completely then store them in a zip lock bag for up to 3 months.
Air Fryer Potato Skins
Servings 6
Ingredients
- 6
baked potatoes russet - 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 cup of cheddar
- 1 cup of Colby jack cheese
- ½ cup of bacon bits I used store-bought
Garnish
- ½ cup of chopped green onions
- ½ cup of sour cream
Instructions
- Bake potatoes in the oven or air fryer at 400 degrees F. for 40-45 minutes depending on size. Let cool a bit.
- Slice the baked potatoes in half and scoop out some of the potato with a small spoon.
- Mix the salt pepper and garlic together and session the potatoes well
- Mix the cheddar and Colby jack cheese together and put a generous handful onto each potato half
- Top the cheese with some bacon bits and place into the Air Fryer. You may have to do it in batches depending on the size of your Air Fryer
- Cook for 4 minutes at 350 degrees F.
- Garnish with green onion and sour cream
