Ya’ll I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to get this homemade fudge icing recipe to you. OK. Enough about that let’s get to this icing recipe since it’s like 4 months overdue 😉
Ingredients
Simple Syrup
- 5 TBSP Sugar
- 5 TBSP Water
- 2 TBSP Corn Syrup
Icing
- 1 C Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 2 TBSP Vegetable Oil
- 2 TBSP Vegetable Shortening
- 4 TBSP Corn Syrup (honey or golden syrup works too)
- 2 Sticks of Unsalted Butter
- 2 TSP Vanilla Extract
- 8 C Powdered Sugar
- 4-6 TBSP Cold Water
Now that ya’ll have this recipe you are going to be in heaven. You will want to put this icing on EVERYTHING. SERIOUSLY!

Homemade Fudge Icing Recipe
Ingredients
- 5 TBSP Sugar
- 5 TBSP Water
- 2 TBSP Corn Syrup
- 1 C Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 2 TBSP Vegetable Oil
- 2 TBSP Vegetable Shortening
- 4 TBSP Corn Syrup honey or golden syrup works too
- 2 Sticks of Unsalted Butter
- 2 TSP Vanilla Extract
- 8 C Powdered Sugar
- 4-6 TBSP Cold Water
Instructions
- In a small saucepan combine the first 3 ingredients to make a simple syrup. You will want to boil the ingredients for 2-3 minutes over medium high heat.
- Next place the simple syrup into a bowl and allow place in freezer to cool.
- Using a Kitchen Aid mixer with the paddle attachment add the cocoa powder and cooled but still warm simple syrup and mix until it forms a firm mass. It will be thick and odd, but, it's ok!
- Next add the Vegetable Oil and Solid Vegetable Shortening ensure to combine all the ingredients. You may need to use a spatula and scrape down the sides of your bowl.
- Add the corn syrup and the softened butter mixing until smooth.
- Place sifted confectioners sugar all at once and mix on low until smooth.
- Slowly add the cold water 1 tablespoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
- * You can use a hand mixer, be sure to add small amounts of powdered sugar at a time.
