Sometimes I create recipes in my kitchen out of plain boredom, this Macaroni and Cheese Casserole Recipe is one of them!
When I get bored and have time by myself {typically when all the kids are sleeping at one time…which is super rare!!!} I go into the kitchen with Pandora playing and simply create recipes. It’s something I’ve been doing the past few years as I’ve found my passion for cooking.
Sure there have been more failures come out of the kitchen than not, but, my not experimenting I’ll never know and stick to following others recipes…I’m not one to follow rules! The perfect example is my Chilled Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe. There was a day I was in the kitchen and really wanted one of those Soft Batch cookies, but, I couldn’t run to the store…and they are expensive! So into the kitchen I headed and ended up creating the most perfect chocolate chip cookie EVER…this Macaroni and Cheese recipe was similar in the way that it was the best macaroni and cheese that I’ve ever had.
Typically when it comes to macaroni and cheese I use to be the typical blue box stuff and then once I learned of chemicals, GMO’s, dye’s, etc. in foods I’ve avoided that entire aisle of the grocery store. Then I moved onto the organic blue box and even then it’s not that legit.
Do you know the secret to having legit food? Making it yourself folks!
I actually ended up making this macaroni and cheese recipe the night I made Chicken and Steak Kabobs…I guess it was a great day in the kitchen for me that day!
Alright, let’s get you started on this heavenly macaroni and cheese recipe, shall we?!?
What You’ll Need to Make this Macaroni and Cheese Casserole
- Macaroni (Elbow) Noodles
- Shredded cheddar cheese cheese
- Butter
- Milk
- Paprika
- Mustard
How do you make good mac and cheese?
A good mac and cheese recipe starts with milk, butter and some spices!
Preheat oven to 350.
1. In a large bowl place the cooked and drained elbow noodles and butter. Letting the butter melt.
2. While the butter is melting whisk the milk, paprika and mustard together in a small bowl.
3. Pour the milk mixture over the noodles and mix well.
4. Using half the 8 oz. bag of cheese pour into the noodles and mix until melted.
5. In a large Pyrex or Corningware dish pour the noodles into the dish.
6. Sprinkle remaining cheese onto the top of the noodles and bake on 350 for approximately 20 minutes. You are just wanting the cheese to melt and get bubbly, ooey gooey!
Take note how not all of the noodles are covered. That’s simply because my girls REFUSE to knowingly eat cheese. This also goes for no cheese on Skyline Chili, tacos, pizza and anywhere else you’d use cheese 😉
